I'm about to break my fast with saltines and organic pear nectar (made from hand-picked Italian pears. Not monkey-pikt, alas, but a girl has to make do).
Yesterday I had 8 saltines and some blue Gatorade. Topped off the night with the same ear nectar. No, no, PEAR nectar. This keyboard likes to drop letters. I promise you I would not know ear nectar if it bit me on the nose.
It has become clear that I am not as impervious to contagious bugs as I have been proclaiming for years (although really, I have done pretty well, considering). I still contend that it could be food poisoning, but apparently this thing is going around, though I don't know of anyone with it here. Maybe my connections to my Florida friends are just that strong, and I caught this stomach bug from Hawkman or Julia after all.
(Here's where I'm contractually obligated to point out that if it's in the stomach, dear darlings and mouselings, it's not a flu. You can call it that for the sake of ease if you like, but I will be forced to elaborate on the differences. Contract.)
I feel a lot better than yesterday, and in fact quite good overall. (And a gazillion times better than Tuesday night, when I was throwing up till midnight.) I spent Wednesday in bed watching M*A*S*H, and moved to the couch for a tape of Gilmore Girls in the evening. Kitties surrounded me at every turn, emitting their Magickal Feline Powers of Healing and Snorgling and Fuzzy Delight into me (at me?). Today I feel cleansed and refreshed. Maybe I should take a fasting lesson or two from Shteven. I know better than to try to do anything more than shower today, though. There are sounds coming from my stomach of the sort that should only be heard from a chem lab: rumblings, bubblings and the occasional voice or two. Demons maybe. Or the natives are appeasing -- maybe building -- a volcano.
And I am making do at all because of the lovely and talented Melissa. Standing O for Melissa! Who brough me bags of goods yesterday that went above and beyond anything I'd hoped or asked for. I wonder how long I can get by on pears, bananas and Cheerios. Right now I can't imagine wanting anything else, and all mention of other food makes me feel ill again. I think it will be a long time before I have dairy again. (Maybe not till Memories :)
I did promise to work from home, though. So my laptop and I will be billeted in bed or on couch for the day. A lovely day to you all.
UPDATE: I'm not as better as I thought. I'm going to lie down now.
